Could Shin’en Multimedia’s eShop Racer Be F-Zero?

Fast Racing NeoShin’en Multimedia is developing a game called Fast Racing Neo. It’s set to come out the the Wii U eShop sometime this year. Rumor and rampant speculation across the internet is that this game could be getting a name change and be revealed at E3 as something completely different. I’m talking about F-Zero Neo.

The game was unofficially revealed last spring and the first screenshots made it online in September. The game hasn’t been seen much since that time, but Nintendo has been hard at work sprinkling F-Zero around, mostly through Mario Kart 8. It was also featured as a mini-game in Nintendo Land.We have the ability to race in the Blue Falcon. There are not one, but two different F-Zero themed tracks and the 200cc mode feels very much like previous games in the futuristic racing series.

Now, understand, everything we’re hearing is complete rumor and speculation. This is the time that those E3 rumors really start to ramp up. Nintendo fans are chomping at the bit to get a new F-Zero game. The last one, F-Zero Climax, was released in Japan only back in 2004. The last game in the series to release in North America was F-Zero GP Legend that same year. F-Zero: Maximum Velocity was also released to 3DS Ambassadors in 2011.

I’m firmly of the belief, and have gone on record saying, that Nintendo has been tossing out so much F-Zero content because they were really gauging interest in the series and that we could realistically hear something about the series this year.   If you’ve never played FAST Racing League on Wii then you wouldn’t realize just how much like F-Zero that game is. It’s also been compared to Sony’s Wipeout series.

Fast Racing Neo will run at 60 FPS and I think this rumor could be plausible. It’s just a rumor and until we hear anything about it that’s all this will be. Could it happen? Yes. Nintendo hasn’ t been opposed to letting outside developers work with their franchises in the past. They’ve even said recently that they’d be more willing to farm out some of their franchises in partnership deals. This could be one of the biggest for them. It would give them a chance to have an F-Zero game release without having to devote too many resources to a franchise they see as a gamble. Shin’en has proven that they can create a fun, fast racing game set in a world similar to F-Zero.

Will we see it happen? I don’t know. This one is plausible. We’ll find out next month when E3 rolls around.  I don’t think Nintendo would test the waters this much if they weren’t at least thinking about it.

Rumor – Call Of Duty Black Ops 3 Viral Marketing Sent To Wii U Subreddit

What does it say?
What does it say?

For those wanting to play Call of Duty on the Wii U, it’s been a roller coaster to say the least. The rumors have been flying around whether or not it Black Ops 3 would be on the system for a while now. You could link your Nintendo Network ID on the site and even recently, they told fans to “stay soon” when they were asked about Call of Duty on Wii U. Well, here’s some more rumors and speculation.

Activision allegedly sent some viral marketing out to Reddit mods. However, the message was also sent to the Wii U subreddit. Of course, this can be fake or a mess up on Activision’s end, however if it is real, one could assume that something is going on. Who knows though. E3 is right around the corner!

Igarashi’s Not-Castlevania Project Could Arise Soon

Igarashi TeaseKoji Igarashi left Konami last year to form his own studio. He followed in the footsteps of other high profile developers like Keiji Inafune, Hironobu Sakaguchi and now Hideo Kojima. People began speculating how long it would be until he, like Inafune, started making not-their-most-famous-franchise style games. It appears that we may soon learn just what IGA has been up to and when we’ll get to play his first game after leaving Konami.

A website has recently appeared called and it features the image shown above. You’re greeted with a picture that very closely resembles Mr. Igarashi and the option of choosing either a sword or a whip, weapons that are very familiar to Castlevania fans.  When you choose one it states your choice has been recorded and tells you that your vote counts for something. Just what that something is, we don’t yet know.

It’s being rumored that it will tie into a Kickstarter that is supposed to start later this week for Igarashi’s next game. The rumored title is Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. The main character’s name is Miriam, a woman with runic tattoos on her body. Another charater is named Gebel and is apparently similar to Alucard from the Castlevania series. Furthering the thought of a Castlevania style game is the rumored composing of Michiru Yamane who worked on Castlevania.

Will we finally see another Castlevania style 2D platformer from the man who made the Metroidvania genre famous? We can only hope.

Activision Support Tells Wii U Fan To Stay Tuned

In a bit of random news, Activision was asked on twitter why people could connect their Nintendo Network ID’s to the Call of Duty site. Activision Support responded with “Stay tuned for more Wii U releases.” Who knows what this could mean. For all we know, this could amount to nothing. We’ll soon find out though, E3 is right around the corner.

A Wild Vita Trademark Appears!

Well this was unexpected. Apparently, a new Vita trademark popped up in Japan. People are speculating that it could be the Vita 3000; some, however, think it could be something different. Personally, I’d love to have a Vita that uses Micro SD and has a HDMI port. Remember though, just because a trademark exists doesn’t mean it will amount to anything. As of now, nothing is known outside of its existence.

What would you like to see in a Vita redesign?

Ryu In Smash?

RyuThis rumor doesn’t really seem to be that plausible. One user on reddit claims to have broken the data for the latest Smash Bros update and claims that it includes info on at least two new characters that will come to Nintendo’s fighting franchise as DLC. One of them seems plausible. That would be Roy from the Fire Emblem series. He’s been in the game before. That would make sense.

The other one, however, doesn’t seem to jive so much. He claims that there is data for Ryu included. I’m talking the fireball throwing, hurricane kicking karate master from Street Fighter. Yes, he’s in a fighting game, but he doesn’t really seem to make that much sense for Smash Bros. Street Fighter hasn’t been that big a thing on a Nintendo platform in a long time. It’s a strange choice, if true.  I would understand more if they were rumoring Ryu from the Ninja Gaiden series.  That was a staple platformer on the NES and he’s been featured in a number of different games on Wii U and 3DS in recent year.

I’d hold off on getting too excited about this one until Nintendo make’s a solid announcement.

Baby Park Returning to Mario Kart?

Mario Kart 8 DLC TracksWe’re just a few days away from the release of DLC pack two for Mario Kart 8 on Wii U. One enterprising user was able to get a hold of data within the game’s file system and it showed them a list of the game’s tracks. What was interesting was that the data associated with the first pack of DLC showed not only the 8 tracks that were released with that pack, but also entries for five other tracks. In the picture above you can see those listed. The top half shows all of the tracks that were added. The bottom half has info on the other five. Among that information for tracks not released is Neo Bowser City from the 3DS version of Mario Kart 7 and Baby Park. There is also information for what appears to be three original tracks. One of them is the new Animal Crossing track. The other two are unknown at this point.

Does this signal the return of my favorite track of all-time, Baby Park? I hope so. It was re-released on the DS version of Mario Kart, but it would not be the first track re-released for a second time. The SNES version of Rainbow Road has been released twice at this point as DLC. What do the other two new tracks that show up signify? My guess is some Toad Highway style track that takes place in a city and another track buried deep in a forest, maybe the Forest of Illusion from Super Mario Bros. 3?

DLC Pack 2 for Mario Kart 8 is set for release on April 23rd. It also includes three new characters, Isabella and Villager from Animal Crossing and Dry Bowser. There will also be some new vehicles and eight tracks released.

Terraria Coming to Nintendo?

terrariaEvidence of a Terraria release on Wii U and 3DS continues to pop up. We first have listings on Amazon for the game on both systems. Then they pop up on GameFly. Now we have ratings for the game popping up on USK. All of this would lead one to believe that the game is coming to both of Nintendo’s current generation systems. You know what? I’d be perfectly okay with that. I have the game on PC, PS4 and Vita, but I’d be more than happy to have them on Wii U and 3DS with the touch screen interfaces and second screen experience.

The developer hasn’t officially announced anything, but I would not be surprised to see that game (and/or possibly it’s expansion) show up on a Nintendo system very soon.

Rumor – Xenoblade Chronicles X May Have Paid DLC

It’s been known for quite some time that Xenoblade Chronicles X would have DLC quests. What wasn’t known is if the quests would require a payment or if they would be free. Well, not too long ago download cards surfaced for the game that imply there might be paid DLC. Many are speculating that this is true though because the bundle that’s releasing in Japan will be releasing with a 1000 Yen eShop card.

There has been no confirmation on if this is true or not however we should know soon. On April 10th, there will be a Xenoblade Chronicles X presentation where it’s expected that we hear more about this and the games online content.

Atlus Tweets Hint At Attack On Titan And Retweeted Nintendo Direct Announcement

Earlier this week Atlus made an interesting tweet that had much in common with Attack on Titan. The tweet shared similarities to the opening line of the Attack on Titan theme song and the vine also somewhat resembled some of the more graphic content of the series. Well today Atlus also retweeted the Nintendo Direct announcement. Could Attack on Titan for 3DS finally be getting localized? We’ll soon find out!
