Warhammer 40K. Warhammer Fantasy. Space Hulk. Blood Bowl. Mordheim: City of the Damned. These are all Games Workshop properties that have electronic video games being developed. Let’s add one more to the list. This beautiful teaser is for a new game coming to PC from Tindalos Interactive. It’s called Battlefleet Gothic: Armada and even in teaser form it looks glorious.
I love this game. Turn based, ship to ship combat in space with some of the best looking models I’ve seen. We don’t know a whole lot about what this game actually entails, but you can bet there will be humans, Orks (they’re spelled with a K that’s how you know they belong in space), Eldar (space elves) and Chaos (demon possessed humans and creatures) involved.
Watch the teaser. Watch it. Oh, and if they don’t announce that a Warmaster game is coming soon I’m going to be very cross.
Sega and Creative Assembly have just announced that they’re basically making my dreams come true. I love Warhammer. I’m not ashamed to admit it. I spent way more money than I want to admit and way more time than I care to image with these little plastic figures for the game. I created dozens of pieces of custom terrain for tables, participated and helped organize tournaments. I was even a part of a dual-city grudge match at one time. I like Warhammer, a lot.
What I haven’t found in a long time is a reasonable recreation of the game on console or PC. That’s all about to change as the two companies have announced Total War: Warhammer. The game, which you can see in the trailer above is described by Sega:
“Our rules have changed, and with change comes war on a scale as yet unimagined. Gigantic monsters, flying creatures, legendary heroes and storms of magical power take their place on the battlefield, alongside thousands of warriors clashing in real-time tactical battles. All at YOUR command. In the turn-based campaign game of statecraft & empire building, you will find the Old World an unforgiving and treacherous place, filled with endless war and cunning alliances alike. Whichever race you choose to play as and however you seek conquest, you will be faced with a conflict that threatens to tear the very fabric of reality asunder.”
It’s one of the worst kept secrets in gaming as it was leaked back in January and then teased again in March. The trailer doesn’t mention anything specific as far as platforms or when the game will be released. All you need to know is my hype level for this is currently off the charts. I’ll probably need to reign it back in a bit. With this, Blood Bowl 2 and Mordheim: City of the Damned all on the horizon it’s a good time to be a fan of Games Workshop.
