Not too long ago, thinking of playing a Monster Hunter game on a Nintendo handheld was just wishful thinking. These days Capcom made a bet on the Big N’s handheld, one that has apparently payed off. Capcom is reporting that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate has shipped 3.4 million units worldwide as of March 31, 2015. It’s still shy of the 3.9 million projected sales goal, but it’s no small number by any stretch of the imagination. It could easily get that number in a few months. As a matter of fact, it may have already.
For Capcom’s new Monster Hunter spinoff series, they’re hoping to see it sell 2.5 million units by March 31, 2016. Judging by the fact it’s an actual RPG and it’s in the very popular Monster Hunter series, they could actually achieve these sales. Hopefully we see them push this game out in the west as well!
Just watch the trailer. Then go download all the new goodies for Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. You get Samus. You get Mega Man. You get Chun-li. It’s going to be great.

Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is the best-selling game in the franchise in the West. The company said that they have shipped over a million units of the game combined between digital and retail releases. That makes it the fastest selling game in the franchise outside of Japan. In addition to that it’s also the highest rated game in the series.
To celebrate Capcom will be releasing a special Nintendo 3DS theme in May and will be making it free for everyone to download.
Does anyone on this podcast even play games anymore? We spend a really long time discussing Devil Survivor 2, and I don’t mean the plot or gameplay, I mean what it even is. You’ll see. Another Okie Cast, another Monday. I hope it helps.

We finally get Micah back and Shannon is gone. Thankfully Ethan is always on Skype ready to go. Poor Joe. Anyway, video games are here and we played some. Much to Micah’s dismay, we talk about Final Fantasy for most of the show. I’m not even sure how it happened. Much like Final Fantasy, this show goes on forever. It probably has something to do with the Lifestream.

We pack the mics with a five people show and keep it under and hour and a half. I’m not sure how it happened but you can listen to figure it out for yourself. Friend of the show Robert Busey joins us again and all is well. Sword ‘N’ Board is going to hit beta soon people. Look out for it by keeping up with Robert’s Twitter.

If you’re looking for platforms on the rise you need look no further than Nintendo. The company had the best-selling hardware unit for the month in the Nintendo 3DS. According to the company they sold more than 395,000 units of the handheld. Most of those sales came from the New 3DS XL, which outsold its predecessor in its first month on the market by 130%. During the first two months of the year the 3DS has sold more than 90% more than the same period last year.
515,000 units sold means that The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D was the best-selling piece of software for the month. Even Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate sold well with Nintendo reporting the title having sold over 290,000 units both physically and digitally.
The Wii U is also selling well. Though they did not give specific numbers the company did say that the system has sold 20% more units this year than the same period last year. Smash Bros. and amiibo are also doing well having sold more than 1.5 million and 3.5 million units respectively.
Nintendo is hoping that this momentum can continue over the next few months with titles like Codename S.T.E.A.M. having just released and other like Mario Party 10, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D and Splatoon coming in the next few months.
The second round of free Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate DLC is on the way. Like the last DLC, it’s still Nintendo themed. Unlike the last DLC, it’s not Mario themed. This time we’re going to get our hands on gear based on the Hero of Light himself, Link. That’s right! Whether you want to practice your aim with Link’s bow, slash some baddies with the Master Sword, or just can’t wait to run around in tights making incoherent noises, you can now do it all with this DLC. This next round of free DLC is due out March 6th.
